Features Midland – WR400 NOAA Emergency Radio

Whenever the National Weather Service issues a warning or severe weather watch, the WR400 will send you weather alerts automatically, providing you the seconds to seek shelter.

This weather emergency ready can receive seven National Ocean and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) channels. Additionally, it is programmed with almost 80 alerts like flash flooding and hurricanes.

This weather emergency NOAA radio allows users to manually program the radio to alert only when a natural disaster hits a particular city or country.

In this way, all the other areas’ warnings are eliminated, so the user won’t have to listen to these alerts that are not valuable to them.

It will only generate an alert when the hazard is 100 miles up the highway.

It also stores the ten previous previously received weather and hazard alerts.

F.A.Q.s

Does it use batteries for backup?

It can run off the batteries or the added A/C adapter. Without the A/C adapter, the batteries will last about a month in the monitoring mode before becoming exhausted.

It can also tune in to regular radio stations and weather channels, which makes it helpful when the power goes out in times of emergency.

Does this radio activate, read the alert and turn off mechanically after the warning is read out?

The WR300 turns off mechanically 5 minutes after the warning is done. I don’t know about the WR400.

Does it have end-of-message detection? Does it mechanically silence itself after the alert?

Yes, it does have end-of-message detection. The volume control can replace the volume of the message itself. That primary alert tone, anyway, cannot. It is deafening, mainly for a bedroom.

Does it have an external antenna jack?

There is an R.C.A. jack on the back of an outside antenna. It would be best if you had an R.C.A. to BNC male adapter to use a BNC antenna.

Does the WR400 display when an alert or watch expires?

The WR400 does not show when the alert will expire. The same message the N.W.S. sends contains details about the period for which the signal is valid. N.W.S. can set the active time of the alert from fifteen minutes up to six hours.

The weather radio display message and light will mechanically reset their general look when the designated time has passed.

I do not need another digital or alarm clock.

While there is no way to disable the clock altogether, it is a tiny portion in the upper right corner of the display. It is also a choice to turn the alarm clock off and not set it for alerts.
